9-22-26 Ohio County Fiscal Court Meeting · Watch on YouTube ↗

Summary

The Ohio County Fiscal Court met on September 22, 2026, opening with prayer, pledge, and routine approval of minutes, bills and claims, and the clerk's August financial report, all of which passed unanimously by roll call. A brief discussion arose over whether certain utility payments (ACH withdrawals) were being drawn from ARC funds, which was clarified to be automatic withdrawals from each department's own budget.

Committee reports included an update on ongoing landfill contract negotiations and a note that Jerusalem Ridge Festival attendance numbers were not yet available due to a canceled Bluegrass Foundation meeting. Magistrates thanked the community for supporting recent fair events and previewed the upcoming Dundee Days celebration.

A notable discussion involved a proposed 500-foot extension of 13th Street in Beaver Dam, where existing easements and a water line already exist. The court agreed to appoint a viewing committee, including Judge Johnson, to evaluate the extension ahead of the next meeting.

The most contentious moment came when Magistrate Larry moved to pass a previously tabled resolution formalizing a 12-month moratorium on data centers. Other magistrates expressed frustration that they had not had adequate time to review the resolution's language, and no one seconded the motion, so it failed for lack of a second. No county officials or citizens had further comments, and the meeting concluded shortly after.

Dear heavenly Father, we come to you this evening and we thank you first and foremost for your many blessings. We just love and thank you so much for all that you do for us each and every day that we often overlook. We love you for letting us live here in Ohio County, a place all dear to our heart. We just ask you to be with us as we go along during this meeting and everyone act in a way that's pleasing to you and we give you glory in the process for it. I pray that anybody within the sound of my voice doesn't know you as their father, they'll do so before it's too late. I just love and thank you so much. In your name I pray. Amen. Does that come out of the ARCH budget? — Oh, you're on the standing order.

  • 2:47

Yeah. — Why would it come out of the ARCH budget when they have a budget of their own? When this ARCH money's gone, we might not have the money to replace it, and that's a very important part of the court. — So, you're on page five? — Page five of 13. — Okay, and which one? — There's about nine or 10 of them. — That's not ARCH, ACH. — What is the ACH? What is it? — That's where it just automatically comes out of your bank account. Automatic automatic withdrawal — That's the first time I've seen it on there. — You have asked about it before. The easements are there. Could we start a viewing process to — Yeah, you can you can do that. You can just — Okay. It's just a 500 ft extension. We don't want to go all the way through. Like I said, the water line, the easements, and everything are already done. So, do we need to appoint a viewing committee? — Yeah. — Okay. Our point of view committee. So, I guess on the viewing committee, you'll have the Nick Woolen and Charlie Shields is usually on them. Is that enough? — I think he usually has three. — Yeah, and you want to put a judge on there. — The judge. — The current or the ex-current? — viewing committee, y'all will be looking for it. — Yes. — The The digits are there. The only thing, the rock might be There was rock put on years ago. Uh And then we'll do Judge Johnson. — Here we go. — He can sit here. He can He can Yeah,

They had opportunity. Neither one of them contacted me. I'm going to make a motion, and if y'all don't want to pass it, don't second it, and don't vote for it. I'll make a motion we pass this resolution. — Do I hear a second? — Sounds like y'all don't want it.

    — Well, and two of the three people are dying. That's not treating it — Let me I seen my email this morning at 9:54. Is am I correct on that? — Well, it it'd be better practice to So, I mean a and I think initially the court did vote on a moratorium for the 12 months uh by oral motion that was made at that meeting, whatever meeting day it was. Uh Larry requested uh something more uh formal as far as a resolution. And uh that was prepared. Uh it was sent
