Meeting of July 13, 2021

[Music] fiscal court order on this 13th day of july 2021 at 5 pm i'm going to ask sister ann to lead us in a prayer and a place to play our heavenly father we want to thank you for this beautiful day and thank you for the world you've given us though at times we need your guidance and we do need to lean on you help the people that we've elected to make good decisions and make them for the best of our county our state and our country in your name we pray amen amen and to the republic for which it stands one nation under god indivisible with liberty and justice for all before you have the minutes of the june 22nd meeting

not available any discussion or questions for base bank nine authors say aye aye close like sign now you stand up now we're gonna talk about voting [Music] i give you a got your packet i think if you remember a bit a while back we talked about new voting equipment that states really wanting us to get the equipment we have basically 14 15 years old and this year we do not have an election so it's a good time to look at it so that money can go to our equipment and there also is grant money from the state i do not know how much that each county is going to get but they did tell us we would get some so if you just look in your packet

[Music] i know if you're aware there's been a lot of new laws changed for how we're going to vote and what they're going to allow us to do so the first page you may not want to read it all now but this is what we proposed to a state board of election at frankfurt now everything has to be approved through the state board of election and the secretary of state of our plan of how we want to vote in our county the state board relations executive director was in the office a couple weeks ago he said he loved it was no problem for him but he couldn't speak for the secretary of state so it's not totally been a approved by no means and probably august 4 i really know but if you want to look at the second page you can see the plan and you can see up on the left hand side uh of the schools that are willing to let us have precincts in there except now they're going to be called voting centers so we're going from 19 precincts to six voting centers but they're still the precincts but these are just brother though they voted in the equal penalties

you will still get a printout of what precinct for who voted were yes but everybody will be able to go to any of these locations and vote you do not have to go to a specific precinct to vote so if you're on your way to owensboro and you want to go to living faith you can stop in there and go live in fact we're just living faith that's right on uh hoover hill yeah so there's a location in every district but you can still show up you voted in your yes absolutely you understand beaver dam person can drop off like you can go anywhere you know but you can go to ohio county high school and live in rosie they'll get the ballot from where they live right yes it it will be pretty much what we did last year make it longer time to get the final know who won or no should not now i've never done this so this is the first time so it should not if this flies best uh have you put the pencil to it see what kind of savings you're looking at towards the camera well just just uh not for uh poll workers i haven't but just for equipment you're right about 90 to 100 thousand dollars right now yeah

and it'll probably be somewhat close to that as well you know i don't want to give you because i really don't know but it definitely will be a savings it's any way we go it's going to be a saving and you know the first time that we do this you know it may be a little more because you know i got to be prepared and i don't know what to expect you know i don't know who will be going to which uh location but yeah it definitely will save the county money absolutely how many places should you be able to vote in six six but if you look at your map you can see we had 19 precincts we got six locations now the black dots on your map are where the existing precincts are now everybody on this map will be within 7.5 miles of a voting location we have people now 15 miles to go to the precinct okay so they will have the choice where to go they're all 7.5 miles except for one household and that's down in rochester my neighbor and we've talked and she's fine with it she'll be nine miles but everybody else is right around 7.5 in my opinion you can't beat it no and and the size of these grids that's the

bottom of a can of pork and beans is how you get them but this is our recommended recommendation from the our county board yeah i take it to small dots or the existing precincts and the larger dots are the ones that propose yes that's right and you can see the colors to where the location will be for the color of the circle okay so as long as you have your driver's license and that then they'll know your precinct by where it'll all be computer rights yeah because i don't want to be a forceful diner and go vote and then i'll vote for larry kingdom [Music] that's a good job so the next page that's the one we probably get [Music] thank you vets for sharing that with you yeah you're welcome so when you look at this next page just keep in mind what we saved by doing this okay well we talked about i'm still comfortable we can use arca money for this yes and also like say we're going to get a grant i just don't know how much but what i like to ask is because i've never done this this is going to be first time for the state of kentucky to do it this way and every county
